@AriBerman @KevinMKruse I think Roberts embodied the Pollyanna-ish idea of many Americans that our fellow citizens had moved away from bigotry, race hate, violence, and pretextual laws to enforce white supremacy. We were all of us catastrophically mistaken, and our country pays a horrible price daily.
